Blow out those candles, but hold on - Earth Day's about way more than cakes! It is all about putting love into action and making efforts in environmental conservation, bringing together communities from around the world to fight against environmental degradation.
This year's theme is Planet vs. Plastics. And as you know, Chameleon Sand Candle resonates with this campaign with one of our core values being sustainability.
For a small business, the challenges are real and we're constantly striving to find cost-effective solutions that are also environmentally friendly.
We have transitioned to using only paper tapes in our packaging, we are using 100% fully recyclable mailers, we stopped using printed Thank-You-Cards and send electronic cards only, and we are phasing out small plastic bags used to hold the wicks and replacing them with 100% degradable kraft paper bags.
We know you love Earth too, so we've put together a practical list of tips to help cut down on plastic use:
1. Always bring your own bag when you hit the shops. It beats grabbing a new plastic or paper one every time.
2. Go for reusable containers, water bottles, and coffee cups instead of disposable plastics.
3. Pass on the plastic straws and cutlery. Just let the restaurant know you don't need them when you order takeout or delivery.
4. Choose fresh over frozen. Fresh produce usually comes with less packaging than frozen stuff, so it's a good move to skip all that plastic.
5. Invest in a reusable bottle for cleaning products. You can find brands that sell concentrated cleaners to mix at home or you can visit one of those fantastic stores where you can bring your own container and buy exactly how much you need.. It's a great way to reduce the clutter of plastic bottles under your sink.
Pretty easy, right? Even these small changes can make a big difference.
Let's keep the Earth Day spirit alive every day! Join us in making small changes that have a big impact. Let's go!
